QARURMAN. PRACTICE 1-3.
ZINE, 2024
Qarurman (translated from Tatar as "black, dense forest") is the setting for various episodes of many Tatar fairy tales, songs and baits. Unknown trees with magical fruits grow here, mysterious creatures live. Through Qarurman, the hero enters another world, often such a Black Forest itself embodies the image of another world.

Qarurman is a place of difficult life challenges that are better to overcome together. In life, as in the deep forests, it is impossible to go alone; a person needs loyal friends, close people, only together can they overcome all difficulties and reach the desired goal.
Qarurman is a place where people ran away from troubles and enemies. The forest protects a person, gives him a temporary home. The Black Forest is also a state of the human soul when he gets lost in his thoughts, and is looking for a place to stop to find strength.

This zine is the documentation of three collective practices during my stay at the residence of CCA "Smena" and "Sphere" Foundation. Three attempts to make friends with the Forest. Three different ways to stay in the Forest. I will continue to explore the meaning of these practices, this zine is only a fixation of the moment and states.

Going into the Forest is not an ideal and sweet walk. On the contrary, a person should be ready for a walk not only along the beaten paths, but also, perhaps, leading beyond the boundaries of the explored. You can use these exercises or invent your own.
