CONCOURSE
DEBARCADER-30, NABEREZHNYE CHELNY, 2024
The first exhibition at Debarcader-30 brought together 14 Kama artists from Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Udmurtia and Perm Krai. The term "Kama artist", as well as "Kama person", had hardly ever appeared in conversations and texts before. Although people are used to uniting according to some geographical principle, but for some reason the combination of "person - their river" and "person – Kama" still has not caught on. But the life of a city is always connected with its river, just as a person's life is connected with water (a person consists of 60 percent of water, maybe this ratio is true for a city with a river?).

The Concourse exhibition is just the beginning of a conversation and a lot of research. How did living next to Kama affect our childhood? How does it affect us now? How is the city friendly with the river? What kind of Kama is it? Who does it belong to? It's too early to draw conclusions, but one thing is for sure: the river helps to find a common language. Many artists were not familiar with each other before the exhibition, but this did not prevent them from pairing up and making work together.
